Mill Dam park 'dangerous' artwork removed

Pottery artwork on display in a park in Cumbria has been taken away following a complaint that it was dangerous.

Flowers and bugs, sculpted by children, had been on show on a fence at Mill Dam play area in Ulverston for a year.

South Lakeland District Council took action after a passerby raised the issue with a local councillor.

The council said it had not given permission to display the pottery and some of the pieces were considered a "safety hazard".

It said there was also concern that other people may put up unsafe artwork and that the liability for any accidents would rest with the authority.

It added that the pieces have been carefully wrapped and put in storage for people to reclaim.
