Cumbrian rail line reopens after landslip

Rail services are running again following disruption when heavy rain caused a landslip and blocked a section of track in west Cumbria.

The slip at Harrington, near Workington, led to services between Carlisle and the west of the county being cancelled on Sunday.

The landslip was cleared and Northern Rail said a normal service was running.

Cumbria Police has urged people to expect travel disruption with heavy rain and strong winds forecast later.

A house near Cockermouth caught fire after being struck by lightning during the storm. No-one was hurt.
