A man has been found guilty of the knife murder of his friend following a row over cash and drugs.

The body of Luke Hollingsworth, 23, was found at a house on Etterby Lea Road, Carlisle, on 10 July last year.

Jamie Armstrong, 21, of Warwick Road, Carlisle, claimed Mr Hollingsworth was killed by masked intruders who demanded drugs money and attacked them both.

But a Carlisle Crown Court jury dismissed Armstrong's version of events. He will be sentenced later.

The court heard Mr Hollingsworth had suffered wounds to his back, head and eyes.

Judge Paul Batty told Armstrong he would serve a life sentence, the minimum term for which would be decided at a later hearing.
