The family of a boy who died last week in Cumbria have described him as "amazing" and "much loved".

Kye Backhouse, 13, was found dead at his home in Ewan Close, Barrow-in-Furness, on Thursday and a man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

The 48-year-old suspect was released on bail on Saturday.

In a tribute issued through police, Kye's family said they were "devastated" at his loss and that an "emptiness" was left in their lives.

They said: "Kye was the most amazing and much loved young man that anybody could wish to meet.

"He made everyone around him smile every day and, even now with him gone, he is remembered with a smile.

"We cannot even begin to express our feeling of loss. We ache to hold you once more."

Cumbria Constabulary said a dedicated team of detectives was continuing to investigate the death.
