Edward Farish from Carlisle dies after being hit by car

A 92-year-old pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Carlisle.

Edward Farish, who lived locally, was struck by a blue BMW on Wigton Road, near the junction with Ullswater Road, at about 17:15 on Sunday, Cumbria Police said.

He later died of his injuries at the city's Cumberland Infirmary. His family is being supported by officers.

The driver, a 52-year-old man from Carlisle, is helping police with their inquiries.
