A Cumbrian couple who built an enclosure for cheetahs have been ordered to take it down.

Dee and Daniel Ashman, who run Predator Experience, at Ayside, near Newby Bridge, erected it without approval.

Objectors said the attraction, which also has birds of prey and wolves, was "becoming a zoo".

The Lake District National Park Authority said the enclosure is an "incongruous intervention into the landscape".

It is situated on the edge of Ayside, a small village in the south of the county.

The Ashmans, who declined to comment on the decision, have a right to appeal.
