A66 head-on crash kills one and injures two

A man has died in a head-on crash in Cumbria, which also left two people seriously hurt.

The collision, involving a van and a minibus, happened on the A66 near Warcop.

The driver of the van, a 38-year-old man from Kirkby Stephen, was pronounced dead at the scene at about 18:45 GMT on Saturday.

Two people in the minibus, a 39-year-old man and a woman, 40, were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
