Glenridding Dodd fall: Woman rescued after 50ft plunge

A woman suffered serious head injuries after falling 50ft (15m) down a Cumbrian fell.

The woman, who has not been named, was walking on Glenridding Dodd, on the southern end of Ullswater, on Saturday, when loose ground gave way.

Members of Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team used ropes to reach the woman and then lowered her on a stretcher to a waiting air ambulance.

She was flown to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.
