Motorcyclist killed in collision with car near Kendal

A man has died after apparently losing control of his motorbike on a bend and colliding with a car in the Lake District, police said.

The crash happened just before 14:00 BST on Saturday four miles north of Gilpin Bridge on the A5074 near Kendal.

Cumbria Police said the man 57-year-old from Nuneaton, in Warwickshire, died at the scene.

The road was closed for five hours. The other driver, who was in a Mercedes car, was uninjured.
