Carlisle car crash death driver named by police

Cumbria Police have named a driver who died after losing control of his car in Carlisle as 56-year-old Russell James Coughlin.

Mr Coughlin, from Carlisle, died in the Cumberland Infirmary, on Wednesday, after the Vauxhall Insignia he was driving left the road.

A police spokesman said his car collided and mounted a kerb then crossed a grassed area and clipped a tree on Kingstown Road.

Officers are appealing for witnesses.
