A "dangerous and predatory" man who had sex with a 15-year-old girl while he was on bail for the rape of a 16-year-old, has been jailed.

Carlisle Crown Court heard Robert Long's rape victim was treated "like a rag doll" during the attack in 2015.

While on bail he had sex with the 15-year-old at his home in Wigton.

The 21-year-old was jailed for eight years after being convicted of rape. He admitted seven child sex offences, including sexual activity with a child.

Jurors heard how Long and the 16-year-old became friends on Facebook and met for the first time on the day of the rape in December 2015.

'I was terrified'

The victim told police: "He grabbed my arm really hard. "I was like 'no, I don't want to'.

"He was really rough. It hurt a lot. He was staring at me weird. I was shaking. I was terrified.

"He was pulling me about like a rag doll."

The court heard that while on bail for the rape offence, Long, of Springfields, Wigton, met up with the 15-year-old girl on June 10 last year and had sex with her at his home.

Sentencing Long for all the offences, Judge Peter Davies described Long as "cold and devoid of feeling."

After the hearing, a spokesman for Cumbria Police said: "Robert Long is a dangerous and predatory man who used social media to meet girls in order to commit sexual offences.

"He didn't care for the age of his victims or have any respect whatsoever for them as people."
