Market to launch new Glossop town guide
A market of locally sourced food and drink is being used to launch a guide to part of Derbyshire.
Held in Glossop town centre on 24 July, the event will showcase items ranging from cakes to ale as well as the guide.
The mini-guide, written by High Peak Borough Council and Visit Peak District and Derbyshire, features events and attractions and ideas for days out.
The council said the town had a lot to offer and was on the doorstep of the Peak District, yet was unknown to many.
After its introduction at the market, the guide will be widely available in restaurants, cafes, shops and pubs.
Tony Kemp, executive councillor for regeneration at the council, said: "Glossop has some fine public buildings and an array of excellent shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs. It's also on the doorstep of some of England's most stunning countryside.
"Yet it remains an undiscovered secret for many people.
"We're determined to work with local businesses and Visit Peak District and Derbyshire to give Glossop the profile it deserves and to strengthen the local economy."
