Man in court over 1985 Cromford armed raid

A man has appeared in court in connection with an armed robbery at a Derbyshire bank 25 years ago.

Three men raided the former Lloyds Bank in Cromford in 1985. A security guard was hit in the face with a shotgun.

Alan Murray, 58, from, Pilmoor, near York, is charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, robbery and possessing an imitation gun.

He appeared before Chesterfield magistrates and was bailed to appear at Derby Crown Court on 29 October.

The guard was treated in hospital for facial injuries.

The offenders made off with more than £7,000.
