Rolls-Royce secures £350m engine deal

Rolls-Royce has won a £350m ($560m) deal to supply engines and maintenance for Lufthansa and Swiss Airbus aircraft.

The Trent 700 engines, built in Derby, will be delivered in 2012.

Rolls-Royce said the order will power eight Lufthansa and Swiss Airbus A330 aircraft.

Mark King, of Rolls-Royce, said: "We are delighted that Lufthansa and Swiss continue to put their trust in our leading edge Trent technology."

The company said the Trent 700 is the only engine specifically designed for the Airbus A330 and more than 1,000 are now in service or on order.
