Project to cut burglaries in north east Derbyshire

People aged over 60 have been given help to secure their homes as part of a crackdown on burglaries in villages in north east Derbyshire.

Officers have handed out free door chains, door bars and window alarms in Holmewood, Heath, Grassmoor and North Wingfield.

It is part of a six-week scheme aimed at tackling crime and anti-social behaviour in communities.

Police will also visit Tupton during the project, which ends on 8 November.

Residents were also given UV pens to mark expensive items.
