Police in Derbyshire are appealing for help identifying a mystery object found in the Amber Valley area.

The item, made up of several metal discs, is about 12 inches (30cm) long and is stored in a black case labelled "Electrical Services Division".

The case is lined with grey foam and includes several moulded spaces where other objects can be placed.

Derbyshire Police Insp Richard Smith said he believed it could be of "some value".

He said: "If a member of the public can give us any information on the purpose of this object or who it may belong to we will do everything we can to return it to its rightful owner."
