Man injured in stabbing at Derby party

A 29-year-old man is in hospital after being stabbed in Derby.

The victim was taken to Royal Derby Hospital after the incident, believed to have taken place during a party in Chellaston Road in Allenton.

Detectives said an investigation was under way into the attack which happened on Sunday morning.

Forensic teams cordoned off an area around the scene and officers made a number of arrests. The man is in a stable condition in hospital.

Insp Kam Bria, of Derbyshire Police, said armed officers responded to the incident.

"At this stage the incident would appear to have occurred during a private party at the address and several arrests were made in connection with the incident," Insp Bria said.

"Police are in the early stages of the investigation and I'm unable to comment on what was the cause or motive behind the incident."

Derbyshire Police has appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
