Cars damaged by snow and ice missiles on M1 in Tibshelf
A number of cars have been damaged by snow and ice thrown from a motorway bridge in Derbyshire.
Police in Tibshelf said the missiles were thrown from the bridge on Newtonwood Lane between junctions 29 and 28 of the M1, on Saturday night.
Officers have issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward.
PCSO Paul Brownlee said such behaviour endangered road users and it was extremely fortunate that nobody was hurt as a result.
He said: "The danger posed by throwing missiles at vehicles from a bridge is unthinkable. It is only due to luck that no one was injured or worse.
"It must have been a terrifying experience for the drivers whose cars were hit and we want to issue a warning that this dangerous behaviour will not be tolerated.
"Anyone caught throwing ice or other objects from bridges will be dealt with accordingly."
