Motorcycle barriers on Derby's Oakwood estate

Barriers have been installed in several alleyways on a Derby estate to prevent their use by nuisance motorcyclists.

In summer 2010, police received a series of complaints about motorcycles being ridden dangerously in Oakwood.

The special barriers are designed to allow access by pushchairs and motorised wheelchairs.

They have been placed in alleyways in the Winster Road, Birchover Rise, Rymill Drive, Cresta Grove and Canterbury Street areas.

The £8,000 project has been funded by Derbyshire Police, the Oakwood Neighbourhood Board and Derby Homes.
