Masked men in Long Eaton bank hammer attack

Two men using hammers have smashed their way into a Derbyshire bank in an attempt to steal cash.

The offenders, wearing balaclavas and dark clothing, forced their way into Santander on High Street, Long Eaton, just after 1700 GMT on Monday.

They damaged the cash dispenser but did not get inside. They then ran off and got into a Subaru estate car being driven by a third man, police said.

Staff were present at the time but no-one was hurt.

Police said the car was driven off along Tamworth Road towards Sawley and appealed for witnesses.
