Chesterfield jewel gang break in through shop

Thieves have stolen jewellery from a Derbyshire shop after breaking in through a neighbouring store.

Burglars removed tiles from the roof of Identity Hair and Beauty on Cavendish Street in Chesterfield late on Monday.

They stole money from the safe and then removed part of the wall to gain access to E Hagg and Sons jewellers next door.

Once inside they stole a "large quantity" of jewellery and three distinctive 24 carat gold Chinese ducklings with painted eyes.

Police have appealed for anyone with information about the burglary, or who might be offered jewellery, to contact them.
