Police appeal over Derby hammer robbery

Police have released more information about a robbery in Derby in which one man was hit on the head with a hammer.

Officers were called to McTurk Catering on Holcombe Street on the evening of 11 March where they found four staff had been injured.

The robbers escaped with a large quantity of cash from a safe and fled in a burgundy BMW, registration beginning YB57 or BU57.

Anyone with information about the raid should contact Derbyshire Police.

All four members of staff were taken to the Royal Derby Hospital and were released after treatment.

One of the robbers is described as white, about 6ft 1in tall and was wearing a black jacket and a black, woollen hat. He was also wearing large, thick, blue-framed sunglasses.

Det Insp Mark Argyle from Derbyshire Police said: "This was a frightening ordeal for the staff involved and I would urge anyone with information to come forward and speak to officers."
