Wills and Kate profit boost for Royal Crown Derby

Royal Crown Derby say profits during the royal wedding period could reach almost double what they predicted.

The porcelain firm's wedding range has sold about 40% more than expected, and staff have been working extra hours to cope with demand.

Sales and marketing manager Simon Willis said the brand had been given great exposure.

"It's been very significant for this company and internationally it has been enormous," he said.

"I think by the time we finish we'll have sold double what I thought we would.

"The word Derby is being spread all over the world and orders are still coming in."

"Our chief executive, Hugh Gibson, was even on the Oprah Winfrey Show."

Mr Willis said customers in Japan had been particularly keen to buy commemorative items and the firm was now planning a new range to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee next year.
