Project to extend Thornsett Cemetery begins

Relatives are being warned of work to increase capacity at a Derbyshire site.

Thornsett Cemetery, New Mills, opened 15 years ago but will be extended threefold to allow it to accommodate burials for another 30 years.

Work on roads and paths starts on Monday and work will last eight weeks.

High Peak Borough Council said construction will be suspended for funerals, and all work will be carried out with care and respect. Access for vehicles may be restricted.
