Swan shot dead at nature reserve in Codnor Park

A swan has been shot dead at a nature reserve in Derbyshire.

Police and the RSPCA were called after a passer-by found the bird at the Old Forge Nature Reserve, Codnor Park, at about 2030 BST on Wednesday.

Those responsible could face up to six months in jail and a £20,000 fine, police said.

Pc Mark Gibbs called the incident "particularly shocking" and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
