Police have released a CCTV image of a man who tried to rob a Derby shop with a suspected handgun.

The robber threatened a worker at Bola Mini Market in Davenport Road, but the 36-year-old refused to hand over cash.

Detectives said the man had a red hat pulled over his face, with eyeholes cut out, and also wore a distinctive blue raincoat with black shoulders.

Anyone with information about the incident on 22 June should contact police.

The robber fled empty-handed and rode away on a bicycle along Hawthorn Street, toward Nightingale Road.

He is described as white, slim and about 5ft 6ins (1.7m) tall. He was also wearing light blue jeans.

Officers and the force helicopter searched the area but did not find the man.

One man has since been arrested, questioned and released on police bail pending further enquiries.
