Santander Long Eaton branch targeted by robbers

Two men used hammers to smash their way into a Derbyshire bank as cash machines were being filled.

They burst into the branch of Santander, on High Street in Long Eaton, at 1845 BST on Monday.

After guards secured the money, the pair fled the bank and drove off in a VW Golf from Beaconsfield car park, along Main Street towards Sawley.

The car was found abandoned on Cobden Street in Long Eaton just after 2100 BST. Nobody was hurt in the incident.
