Drivers caught without seatbelts in Buxton

More than 30 motorists have been caught not wearing their seatbelts in a police operation in a Derbyshire town.

Warnings and fixed penalty notices were given to 31 drivers who were not wearing a seatbelt and four drivers using their mobile phones in Buxton.

Six drivers whose vehicles were found to have serious defects were ordered to put their cars through an MOT before going back on the road.

Police said other similar operations were planned for the Buxton area.

PCSO Matt Cox said: "Road safety is something which affects everyone and we hope these operations will help to make our roads safer for the whole community."
