Stinger stops mini digger stolen from Ashbourne

Two men have been arrested in connection with the theft of a mini digger from a Derbyshire town.

Officers were called at about 18:30 BST on Monday after reports of a digger being stolen from a building site on Belper Road in Ashbourne.

The digger was loaded on to a trailer and towed away by a white van and driven towards Matlock.

Police stopped the van on the A6 near Bakewell. Two men, aged 31 and 32, remain in custody.

Investigations are continuing into whether the van was stolen.
