Arson inquiry into fire at ex-Newlands Inn in Riddings

A fire which damaged a former pub in Derbyshire could have been started deliberately, police have said.

Officers were called to the Newlands Inn, Newlands Road, Riddings, at about 19:40 BST on Friday.

The road was closed while firefighters tackled the blaze. Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service has now started a joint investigation with police.

Derbyshire Police said it was not yet clear how the fire started but arson has not been ruled out.
