Men arrested over Derby assault death

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died following an assault in Derby.

The 43-year-old local man suffered serious injuries in the attack in Wallbrook Road, near the junction with Brunswick Street, on Sunday afternoon.

He was taken to Royal Derby Hospital and later transferred to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre, where he died on Monday.

Two men aged 32 and a 33-year-old were being questioned on Tuesday.

A fourth man, aged 23, was arrested on suspicion of assault but later released on bail.

A post-mortem examination to find out the cause of the man's death is being carried out later.

The name of the victim will be released after formal identification has been taken place, police said.

Officers have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
