Police have appealed for information about two cars seen in a Derby neighbourhood at the time of a murder.

Johnny Assani, 43, of Peartree, Derby, died in hospital after an assault on Walbrook Road on 14 August.

Detectives have asked anyone who saw a W-registered silver VW Golf or a white BMW 6 series coupe in the area at around 15:00 BST to contact them.

Three Derby men, two aged 32 and one aged 33, have been charged with Mr Assani's murder.

Police spokesman Sam Slack said: "We know that there were a lot of people on Walbrook Road and in the surrounding area when Mr Assani was assaulted."

He added: "We believe these cars travelled along Stanhope Street, Upperdale Road and on to Walbrook Road where the assault happened.

"Any sightings of these vehicles could provide us with vital information. I'm appealing to anyone who saw them to ring us."

He said investigators were still looking for several people in relation to the death.
