Derby shopping centre reopens after evacuation

A bomb squad has carried out a controlled explosion after a suspicious package was found at a shopping centre in Derby.

The Westfield shopping centre in Derby city centre was evacuated after the package was found at about 16:00 BST.

A police spokesman said Traffic Street and part of London Road were closed to traffic as a precaution but were reopened at 20:30 BST.

No-one was hurt, but shoppers and staff were asked to leave the centre.

Members of the Army's bomb squad were called to help with the operation, a police spokesman said.
