Murder arrest after body found on Matlock street

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man's body was found in a Derbyshire street.

The victim, who was in his 40s, was found in the grounds of the library in Steep Turnpike, Matlock, at about 10:50 BST on Sunday.

A 43-year-old man was arrested in Matlock on Sunday night and is being questioned by police.

The library has been cordoned-off while forensic work is carried out and remains closed on Monday.

A post-mortem examination is expected to take place later.

Insp Bryan Hall, of Derbyshire Police, said: "The people of Matlock have been very supportive of the investigation so far and I want to thank them for their help.

"While the closure of the library may cause some inconvenience today, I know residents will understand that it's necessary as part of the inquiry."
