A Derby man has absconded from an open prison in Derbyshire where he was serving a sentence for robbery.

Steven Sutton, 26, from Chaddesden, was jailed for four years at Derby Crown Court in October 2009.

He failed to return to Sudbury Open Prison on Monday, a statement from Derbyshire police said.

Sutton is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build and with short ginger straight hair and blue eyes.

He speaks with a Derby accent and has several scars and tattoos.

Anyone with any information is asked not to approach the prisoner but to immediately contact their local police.
