Farmland in Derbyshire is being searched in connection with the case of a man who went missing more than 30 years ago.

Fred Handford, 56, was last seen in March 1976 working at Ballbeard Farm in New Mills near Glossop.

Teams searched surrounding moors and old mine works but no trace of Mr Handford was found.

Police confirmed new information had been received and an area around Ballbeard Farm was being examined.

A spokesman added that a number of lines of inquiry were being looked at but the investigation was at an early stage.
