A "significant" amount of money was stolen by raiders who used sledgehammers to break into a Derbyshire building society.

Police said four men smashed through the front doors of Nationwide, on Bath Street in Ilkeston, during a cash delivery on Monday night.

Nobody was hurt in the raid, which took place at 20:50 GMT.

The masked men took four cash boxes and left the scene in a hatchback car. Police have appealed for information.
