Theft charge over 'bogus' Derby robbery
A man has been charged after allegedly falsely claiming to have been the victim of a robbery in Derby.
On 23 December the 26-year-old told medical staff he had been stabbed in the stomach during a robbery at shops in the Allenton area, police said.
Police have now said they believe the report was bogus and he has been charged with the theft of the money he claimed was stolen.
The man is due before south Derbyshire magistrates on 11 January.
The man was treated in hospital for stomach injuries at the time of the report.
