Warning over railway trespassing at Dove Holes

Police are to increase patrols at a Derbyshire railway station after people were seen walking on the track.

There have been several reports of people trespassing near Dove Holes station over the past few weeks, British Transport Police said.

PC Andy Collier said anyone caught trespassing could face prosecution.

He said it was thought people were cutting across the tracks as a shortcut rather than using the railway crossing.

"I cannot over-emphasise just how dangerous this is and the practice needs to stop now," he said.

"Anyone who trespasses on the line is placing their life at risk and no BTP officer wants to have to tell a family that their loved one isn't coming home simply because they were trying to take a shortcut."
