Derbyshire motorists warned over icy conditions

Motorists have been warned to take care in icy conditions on roads in parts of Derbyshire.

Police said there had been several accidents in the county after black ice built up on the roads.

The A61 at Dronfield was closed in both directions earlier but both carriageways were later reopened.

About four inches (10cm) of snow fell across the county over the weekend. There were five reported school closures.

Derbyshire Dales District Council said its parks teams had been concentrating on clearing cemeteries of snow and ice so scheduled funerals could take place.

Bakewell Market area was also cleared and the market went ahead, the council said.
