Driver has operation after crash in Derbyshire

A car driver has sustained serious injuries and undergone surgery after a crash in a Derbyshire village.

It happened in Church Broughton at about 18:45 BST on Friday after a Renault lorry and a silver Citroen C3 car collided on Ashbourne Road.

The driver of the Citroen was taken to North Staffordshire Hospital in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Derbyshire Police have begun an investigation into the crash and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
