Five Derby men guilty in child sex case
Five Derby men who preyed on "vulnerable" teenage girls for sex have been found guilty of paying for the sexual services of a child.
Anthony Lambert, 51; Stefan Godfrey, 44; John Shaw, 54; Ijaz Ahmed, 35 and Mark Adaoui, 40, picked girls up girls for sex, Derby Crown Court heard.
The men would target care homes and the streets of Derby, offering drugs, toys and alcohol to the girls.
All five men will be sentenced at a later date.
'Played on floor'
Seven girls, aged between 13 and 15, were involved in the prosecution, five were victims and two were witnesses.
The court heard Ahmed, of Becher Street, and Godfrey, of George Street, who did not know each other, would pick the girls up and pay them up to £30 to perform sex acts.
Shaw, from Kniveton, was cleared of a separate charge of assault and Adaoui, of Carlton Road, was also found guilty of supplying cannabis.
During the five-week trial, the jury heard heard Lambert, of Warren Street, had picked up one of of the victims at her care home with another girl and drove them back to his house.
They had sex on his bed while the other girl sat on the floor playing with her mobile phone.
Speaking outside the court, Det Supt Andy Stokes from Derbyshire Police, said: "They were very vulnerable girls, some of whom came from unstable or difficult backgrounds.
"They were easy prey for these men, who made them feel important and safe, buying them presents to keep them on side."
As part of the same investigation, five other men were convicted of sexual offices against children.
A 51-year-old man was jailed for seven years last January for paying for the sexual services of a child and possessing indecent images of children, while a 55-year-old man was given a three-year community order in August after he admitted three counts of paying for the sexual services of a child.
Ian Yeoman, 60, from Derby, previously admitted 13 counts including paying for the sexual services of a child, sexual activity with a child and possessing indecent images.
Colin Simpson, 55, from Creswell, pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child 56-year-old David Shardlow, from Derby, admitted nine counts of paying for the sexual services of a child and possessing indecent images.
They will also be sentenced at a later date.
