Pear Tree murder victim Trevor Middleton 'dead for over a week'

Police believe a man thought to have lain dead for more than a week was murdered.

Trevor Middleton's body was found in Derby on Wednesday after a neighbour rang police to raise concerns.

A post-mortem has shown that the 36-year-old died as a result of head injuries suffered during an assault.

Police want to trace his last movements. His body was found in Northumberland Street, Pear Tree, at about 17:00 BST.

Det Ch Insp Phil Cox said: "Following the post-mortem examination we are confident that we are dealing with a case of murder.

"We are trying to piece together Mr Middleton's last movements in the days before his death.

"Did you see or speak to Mr Middleton in recent weeks? If so we would like to hear from you."
