Derby man on attempted murder charge dies in custody

A man charged with attempted murder died after he was taken ill in a prison van that was due to take him to court to stand trial.

Wayne Moore, 46, from Alvaston, Derby, was being transported from HMP Nottingham when he collapsed on Monday.

Paramedics were called after the prisoner fell ill but he later died in hospital.

A Prison Service spokesperson said the death would be investigated by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman.
