Police are investigating the "unexplained" death of a 61-year-old man found fatally injured on a road in Derbyshire.

The man, who has not been named, was found on the A6 Buxton Road, near Newtown Primary School, in New Mills, at about 01:30 GMT on Sunday.

Officers said they would like to speak to anyone who may have seen him walking down the road.

He was wearing dark clothing and possibly spectacles, police said.

A 73-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been bailed.

Det Insp Shaun McElheron, of Buxton CID, said the force particularly wanted to hear from a man and woman seen on CCTV walking past the primary school at the time.
