Lorry driver injured in M1 Derbyshire crash

A driver has been seriously injured and part of the M1 in Derbyshire was closed for several hours after a crash involving two lorries.

Police were called to the M1 southbound at Blackwell, south of the Tibshelf services, at about 04:55 BST.

One articulated HGV ran into the back of another on part of the motorway with road works, Derbyshire Police said.

The M1 southbound was closed between junctions 29 and 28 for until about 15:30 BST.

One of the lorry drivers has been taken to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield with serious injuries.

Derbyshire Police have asked anyone who may have seen the crash to contact them.
