A park ranger has been taken to hospital after an "extensive" fire on moorland in the Peak District.

The blaze near Ladybower Reservoir on Monday afternoon was started by a disposable barbecue, a spokesman for the site said.

At its height 50 firefighters tackled the blaze and crews are continuing to dampen down.

A park ranger was injured when a 4x4 vehicle overturned but is not thought to have life threatening injuries.

Bob Curry from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue said a helicopter would be used to drop water from above.

The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.
