Man arrested over sword and dagger theft in Brixham

A man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a samurai sword and a dagger from a museum in Brixham, Devon.

Police were called to the Fishcombe Road site on Thursday afternoon following reports of the theft and an assault on two people.

Firearms officers, a dog tracking unit and force helicopter were scrambled and a man with a samurai sword was arrested a few hours later at Fishcombe Point.

A 52-year-old man from Torbay remains in custody.

The two people assaulted at the museum were treated at the scene by ambulance crews before being taken to Torbay Hospital. Their injuries were not thought to be serious.
