Paignton fire officer treated for effects of heat

A fire officer has been taken to hospital to be treated for the effects of heat after a fire at a Devon house.

The fire broke out in the three-storey house in Manor Road, Paignton, at about 1600 BST on Saturday.

One room was destroyed, while the rest of the second floor was badly damaged by heat and smoke.

The fire officer was taken to Torbay Hospital for treatment. Another officer was treated at the scene for similar effects, police said.

There were no other reported injuries.
