Firefighters tackle thatched-roof fire for eight hours

Firefighters have spent the night tackling a fire at a property with a thatched-roof at Kingscott in Devon.

More than a dozen crews were called to the house near Torrington just before midnight with relief teams taking over at 0230 BST and again at 0500 BST.

Most firefighters were stood down by 0830 BST but some are set to stay at the scene throughout Saturday.

The fire, which is not being treated as suspicious, destroyed the roof and severely damaged the two-story house.
